About Leeds Bridge Festival

The first moving picture was filmed on Leeds Bridge in 1888 by Louis de Prince.

This festival was created in celebratation of Leeds’ history as a place of invention and history of film.

The ‘’Bridge’’ of our festival is also metaphorical, we aim to be a bridge between well established filmmakers, beginners, and minority groups of diverse backgrounds all united by the art of filmmaking.

Leeds Bridge Film Festival (LBFF) takes place from Sept 12-14, 2025.

We uphold a ''never reject a good story'' model.

All the films with a great story submitted will be promoted and screened on an accessible worldwide online platform.

Final official selections will be screened at the festival in Leeds.

Our aim is to facilitate diverse and inclusive films, and filmmaking for all types of audience regionally, nationally and internationally.

Celebrating Leeds

LBFF will open up new avenues for the film industry in Leeds.

Our aim:

Provide industry level workshops.

Screen a diverse and exicting film program.

Make Leeds worthy of the red carpet & international stage.

This is a festival by filmmakers for filmmakers. We are keen and passionate to provide filmmakers with an opportunity to shine and tell their unique stories, even if the mainstream media won't.

The average rate for official selection into most known film festivals is about 5%. LBFF will have a rate of 50%+

Diversity Tackling

Minority groups in Leeds have been looking for a ways to express their culture through creativity. What better way to allow them than through the power of film?
